An ICF PCC Marker Taxonomy: The “Active” Markers

It is often thought that as coaches we are neutral observers and passively participate in the coaching process. For instance, we don’t give advice, etc. The ICF PCC Marker Taxonomy helps us see that the coaching process is co-created with the coach taking BOTH an active and more passive role in that process. The coaches active participation occurs primarily at the beginning and end of a coaching conversation. This presentation will help coaches understand how their role changes during the course of a coaching conversation and how those changes maximize the value of the conversation with their client while honoring their agency.

Learning Objectives:
1. Participants with gain a working knowledge of the ICF PCC Markers, their history and function.

2. Participants will understand the role of active and passive contributions to the coaching conversation and how each adds value for the client.

3. Participants will learn how their active role is essential to being effective in the creation of a coaching agreement and to help the client leverage their conversation into the future AND create closure to the conversation.

Core Competencies Addressed:
Establishes and Maintains Agreements, Facilitates Client Growth

Participants will earn 1.5 Core Competency CCEs
for attending this program.
