Biography
Sylvan Schulz, the Founder and CEO of Grayspace Partnership, specializes in Organizational Culture Consulting and Executive Coaching. She helps organizations build productive and purpose-driven cultures that are aligned with their strategies. Through facilitated workshops, strategic planning sessions, and one-on-one coaching, organizations gain clarity on their purpose and align on action steps. The result is a workforce that clearly understands its mission, is empowered to perform effectively, and is positioned to reach the organization’s strategic goals.
As an executive coach, Sylvan has worked with CEOs and senior leaders to improve their executive presence, drive accountability and ownership, improve communications and feedback, and lead larger as they step into increased responsibility. Her clients range from startups to large public and private institutions.
Most recently, Sylvan was Vice President of Culture Development at CenturyLink, responsible for integrating culture into the company’s business practices and developing programs that strengthen the connection between employees and CenturyLink’s Vision and Unifying Principles.
Sylvan joined Savvis (acquired by CenturyLink in 2011) as Vice President of Service Delivery in 2000. She subsequently served in global senior management positions in sales operations, customer care, communications and strategy, operations and client services, employee communications, and culture development where she spearheaded efforts that improved engagement scores related to the establishment of a clear company culture.
Prior to joining Savvis, Sylvan spent 11 years in marketing, sales, service and operations at MCI, Inc. Sylvan earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from St. Louis University. She earned certificates in women’s leadership from Washington University’s Olin School of Business and the CORO Institute, now part of FOCUS St. Louis. She became a certified professional coach (CPC) and earned her Master Practitioner certification in Energy Leadership Index (ELI) through the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC) and earned her PCC from the International Coaching Federation (ICF).
She serves on the STAGES Performing Arts Academy Advisory Committee, the Cinema St. Louis Fundraising Committee, and the St. Louis International Film Festival Narrative Shorts Screening Committee. In 2012, Sylvan was named one of the 25 most influential business women in St. Louis by the St. Louis Business Journal.
